A man has been charged after a woman was stabbed in broad daylight while jogging in Melbourne’s inner north.
Police said the woman was running near Primula Blvd in Gowanbrae, when she was attacked and stabbed by a stranger just after 10.20am on Thursday.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives arrested an 18-year-old Gowanbrae man on Thursday evening during a raid of a Gowanbrae home.
He has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, stalking, assault with weapon, assault with intent to commit sexual assault and common law assault.
The man was also charged in relation to a separate sexual assault on the same walking path near Primula Boulevard on April 7.
The teen was remanded overnight and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Police had earlier arrested another man in his 20s after they scoured the area on Thursday morning, but he was released without charge on Thursday afternoon
